It gives me great pleasure to welcome all participants and guests of the V International Vladimir Salnikov Cup Swimming Tournament, hosted, as in years past, at the Swimming Centre in St. Petersburg, on 17 and 18 December.
We hope to mark this auspicious five-year anniversary by setting new records and discovering new athletic stars.
We look forward to witnessing exciting competitions, a passion for victory, and the great professionalism and talent of every athlete.
I am confident that this anniversary tournament will be filled with unforgettable moments for fans of this amazing sport, who will be able to enjoy the hard-fought competitions, an intensity of emotions, the passion of the athletes and crowd alike, and – of course – the taste of victory.

The V International Vladimir Salnikov Cup Swimming Tournament concludes with a new Russian record The Silver Shark statuettes went to the winners of the tournament, the Russian athletes Nikolai Skvortsov and Elena Sokolova.

THE IV INTERNATIONAL VLADIMIR SALNIKOV CUP SWIMMING TOURNAMENT The tournament will take place on 28-29 December 2010 in the 25-metre pool in St Petersburg’s Tsentr Plavaniya swimming complex, located at 10 Ulitsa Khlopina. About 300 of the world’s strongest athletes will be competing for the main prize, a silver shark. Eighty eight of the competitors are natives of St Petersburg.
